Special Curtailment Workshop February 16th 2012

Following the recent decision from the SEM Committee on the ‘Treatment of Price Taking Generation in Tie Breaks in Dispatch in the Single Energy Market and Associated Issues’ which was published on the 21st December 2011, Meitheal na Gaoithe will be holding a special Workshop on curtailment, the associated implications for projects in development and an update following our response and call to actions to the SEM Committee.

Date: Thursday the 16th of February
Time: 10:30 to 13:00
Location: Buswells Kildare St, Dublin 2
Cost: €50

The decision as it stands, which grandfathers curtailment based on firm access, has many unforeseen consequences.  By linking curtailment to firm access, the decision effectively terminates non-firm access, thus delaying most Gate 3 projects to their actual firm date (and not their scheduled one).  Meitheal na Gaoithe wrote to the SEMC highlighting the serious consequences of this decision and have sought a meeting with the committee as a matter of urgency ‘to share the profound impact this will have on the sector, for both projects in operation and those yet to be constructed’.

As this decision has implications for many of our members and numerous development projects, it is essential to register your interest for this workshop asap as places are limited.
